Stinky Dance Shoes? Beat the Funk with this easy DIY!



DIY Deodorizing Sachets:


  • Baking Powder

  • Arrowroot Powder or Cornstarch

  • Essential Oil- Lavender, Tea Tree, Peppermint, Purify are all great options

  • Silk/cotton sachets with cinch top

Add 1/2 cup baking soda, 1/2 cup Arrowroot powder, and 10-20 drops of the oil of your choice to a bowl. Mix well. Fill your silk sachet bag with mixture, and tie closed. Stick the sachets in your dance shoes after class for them to absorb the moisture and prevent odor.






Tips:


- Utilize essential oils that are anti-microbial to kill the bacteria in the shoes like: Eucalyptus, Orange, Lemongrass, Lavender, Peppermint, Tea Tree (Melaleuca), Rosemary, Frankincense, ect.


-Not all Essential Oils are created equal. Meaning, many on the market are adulterated with chemicals and are not the pure/real thing. We love and trust doTERRA, as their oils are third party tested for purity.


-Replace the sachets with a fresh mixture every month or so


-After dancing, give your shoes some time to air out. This will help them dry, and extend their life. With air + the sachets- you'll have stinky shoes no longer!
